Canada Summer Jobs 2024

Canada Summer Jobs Program – Intake: Ends January 10, 2024 at 11:59 pm

Applicants can seek funding to hire youth between April 22, 2024 and August 31, 2024.

The program provides wage subsidies to employers from not-for-profit organizations and the public sector, as well as private sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees, to create quality summer work experiences for young people aged 15 to 30 years.

The Government of Canada aims to ensure that all CSJ-funded job opportunities take place in a safe, inclusive, and healthy work environment free from harassment and discrimination.

Local Production Company puts out a call for Crowsnest Pass & Pincher Creek Businesses

Filming

KMUK Productions, run by Kristian Karasz, is a Southern Alberta Production Company operating out of Pincher Creek.  The film will be produced entirely in Crowsnest Pass and Pincher Creek areas.  If business owners would like their business featured in the filming, they can submit their information to KMUK Productions.  If you are interested, please send a photo of your business and your availability over the next few months and spring of 2024.  Send information to This email address is being protected from spambots. Tourism Investment Program: Travel Alberta

Tourisum Investment Fund

The intake period for Travel Alberta's Tourism Investment Program is now open until September 12, 2023.

Eligible applicants for the Growth Fund include Tourism operators, communities, and DMOs in Alberta. Eligible expenses include constructing, purchasing, or renovating existing tourism infrastructure.

Intake for the Innovation Fund is also open until September 12. This program is open to Tourism Operators, communities and associations, and DMOs. Eligible projects include New assets to diversify available experiences for existing operators.

Intake for Cooperative Investment Funds (including events and festivals) will open Sept 12.

South Canadian Rockies Tourism Association encourages all members and regional operators to explore these opportunities. If you require further support, we are here to help!

SCR Tourism Night: Thank you!

A huge thank you to everyone who came out for our regional Tourism Night at Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village on May 16. We had a great night of networking, sharing, and channelling some South Canadian Rockies Momentum!

Fred Bradley, community builder and steward of natural resources, to be granted honorary degree

Former Alberta cabinet minister and long-time MLA Fred Bradley has spent a lifetime serving his community, the province and the country as a community builder, steward of natural resources and champion of democratic ideals. The University of Lethbridge will recognize Fred Bradley for his outstanding service by granting him an honorary degree at Spring 2023 Convocation.

Born and raised in the Crowsnest Pass, Bradley is devoted to his community and has long advocated for the recognition and preservation of the area’s vibrant history.

“Looking at Fred Bradley’s career, the one thing that really stands out to me is his unwavering commitment to serving the Crowsnest Pass,” says Charles Weaselhead, University Lethbridge Chancellor. “He did great things in his role while serving his province as an MLA, and later he continued to serve the public nationally and internationally, but he always found the time to advocate for his community and the Crowsnest Pass. We are proud to present Fred with an honorary degree and recognize his devotion to making life in Alberta better for all citizens.”

Bradley will be presented with an honorary Doctor of Laws, honoris causa, at Spring 2023 Convocation, Ceremony IV, on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. in the 1st Choice Savings Centre

Approved employers from the not-for-profit sector will still be eligible for a wage subsidy reimbursement of up to 100% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage. Approved public and private sector employers will be eligible for a wage subsidy reimbursement of up to 50% of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage.
